Terms and Conditions

These terms are the agreement between you and TruMath when you create an account, take a free class, or buy a course. Please read them before you sign up. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

We have written this in plain English rather than legal language. It is still a binding agreement, and it is enforceable.

TruMath Canada is operated by TruMath Education Inc., a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada (Ontario Corporation Number 1000037281).

“TruMath”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean TruMath Education Inc. “You” and “your” mean the person who holds the account. “The service” means both of our websites — trumath.ca and learn.trumath.ca — together with all classes, videos, assignments, solutions, tests, diagrams, and other material on them. “Content” means all of that material.

You accept these terms when you tick the box at sign-up, and again each time you buy a course. If you use the service without an account — reading our public pages or free assignments — you accept these terms by using it.

If you are accepting on behalf of someone else, such as your child, you confirm you have the authority to bind both yourself and them.

You can hold an account if any of these is true:

Payment must be made by someone 18 or older. The person who pays is responsible for the account and for these terms, whether the account is in their name or their child’s.

If you are under 18, please show this page to a parent or guardian before you sign up.

We may refuse or close an account for anyone we have previously suspended or removed.

TruMath sells access to pre-recorded interactive math classes for Ontario students in Grades 9 to 12, along with practice assignments, video solutions, and a test every two weeks. The classes follow the Ontario curriculum for the course you choose.

Five things to be clear about:

We are a tutoring and learning service, not a school. TruMath is not an inspected private school under Ontario’s Education Act. We do not grant high school credits, we do not issue an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and we are not accredited by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Ontario Ministry of Education or any school board. Course codes such as MHF4U or MCR3U describe which curriculum our classes follow. Your credit comes from your own school, not from us.

We cannot promise a grade. We teach the material thoroughly and give you the practice to master it, but your result depends on your own work — how many classes you watch, how much you practise, and what else is going on in your life. Nothing anywhere on our site is a guarantee of any particular mark, exam score, ranking, or university admission.

Past results are past results, and they come from a different setting. Where we describe results achieved by students taught by our teacher, those results are real and individual. Most were achieved by students taught in person in India, over a period from 1999 onwards, preparing for Indian competitive examinations — not in the Ontario courses sold on this site. We share them because they say something about how our teacher teaches. They are not a prediction of what any other student will achieve, they are not typical of every student, and they are not a representation about results in our Ontario courses.

We try hard to be accurate, and we will occasionally be wrong. Our questions and solutions are checked carefully, but mathematics is detailed work and errors happen. If you find one, please email us and we will correct it. We do not accept liability for a loss caused by an error in our content, and you should not treat our material as a substitute for your own school’s instruction and your teacher’s guidance.

The Ontario curriculum changes. We update our courses when it does, but we cannot promise our content matches the current curriculum at every moment, or that it covers everything your particular teacher will examine.

Current prices are shown on trumath.ca and at checkout. There are two ways to buy each course:

All prices are in Canadian dollars. No sales tax is added — the price shown is the total amount you will pay, and it is shown to you before you confirm your purchase. Our courses follow the Ontario curriculum, and we treat them as exempt educational services for GST/HST purposes. If that treatment ever changes, we will tell you before it affects a price.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. By paying, you confirm you are authorised to use the payment method.

If you choose the monthly plan, you authorise us to charge your payment method automatically on each renewal date until you cancel. You can cancel at any time — see the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

If we change our prices, the new price will not affect a course you have already paid for in full. For monthly subscribers, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a new price applies, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

If a payment fails, we may suspend access until it is resolved.

Chargebacks. If you have a problem with a charge, please email us first — we will almost always sort it out faster than your bank will. If you raise a chargeback for a charge that turns out to be valid, we may suspend or close your account and recover the amount plus any fee our payment provider charges us. This does not affect your right to dispute a charge you genuinely did not authorise.

The first three classes of every course are free. You need an account, but you do not need to enter payment details to watch them, and they do not expire.

The rest of the course unlocks when you buy it. We may change what is included in the free classes, but we will not take away free access to classes you have already started.

You can be enrolled in one course at a time. Grade 12 is the exception — MHF4U and MCV4U can be taken together, and most Grade 12 students do.

Please read this carefully: enrolling in a new course replaces the one you are in now. When you enrol in a different course, we un-enrol you from your current course, and you lose access to it — including content you have already paid for, and including any remaining time on that course’s access period. This happens automatically as soon as you enrol, and it is not reversible from your side. No refund is given for the course you leave.

If you want to keep access to both, email us at info@trumath.ca before you enrol and we will set it up for you. Afterwards is too late.

Within your access period you can rewatch any class as many times as you like. Access is personal to the enrolled student and cannot be paused, extended, transferred, or resold, except at our discretion.

You need your own device, a working internet connection, and a current web browser. We do not provide those, and we are not responsible for problems caused by your device, your connection, your school’s network restrictions, or software you have installed.

All Content on TruMath is our property, or is used by us under licence. It is protected by Canadian and international copyright law.

When you buy a course, you are buying a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to watch it — not a copy of it. That licence is for one student, for personal, non-commercial study, for the length of your access period. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You may not:

If you break this section we may terminate your account immediately, without notice and without a refund, and we will pursue every legal remedy available to us — including takedown notices to platforms and hosting providers, claims for damages and an accounting of profits, and injunctive relief. You agree that a breach of this section would cause us harm that money alone may not fix, so we may seek an injunction without having to prove damages first.

We take this seriously. Our classes have been copied and re-uploaded before, and we pursue it.

If you believe material on TruMath infringes your copyright, email info@trumath.ca with a description of the work, where the material appears on our site, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised. We will investigate promptly.

If you find our Content posted somewhere it should not be, please tell us — we are grateful, and we act on it.

You agree not to:

Anything you send us — a question, a correction, a piece of work — should be civil and lawful.

If you send us a suggestion, idea, or piece of feedback about the service, we may use it freely and without owing you anything. We are not asking you to give up ideas of your own — this simply means we do not want a dispute over a feature we build after someone suggests something similar.

Our sites link to and embed material from other services, including YouTube. We do not control those services, we do not endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

Parts of our service depend on third parties — our course platform and our payment provider. If one of them has an outage, our service may be interrupted through no fault of ours.

We work hard to keep the service running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or completely error-free. We may take it down for maintenance, and we may add, change, or remove features and content over time.

If we discontinue a course permanently, you will keep access for the remainder of the period you have already paid for, or we will refund the unused portion.

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. Closing your account does not automatically refund anything — see the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms — particularly section 11 — if your payment fails and is not resolved, if we reasonably suspect fraud or account sharing, or if we are required to by law. Where the situation allows it, we will contact you first and give you a chance to put it right.

If we close your account for a breach, you lose access immediately and no refund is due. If we close it for any other reason, we refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill.

Except for our obligations under these terms and under any law that applies, the service and all Content are provided as they are. We do not promise the service will meet your particular requirements, be uninterrupted, or be free of errors.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses — for example a disappointing grade, a missed application deadline, lost time, or a lost opportunity. Our total liability to you for any and all claims is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002, the Competition Act, or any other law whose protections cannot be contracted out of. Where these terms conflict with those rights, those rights win, and the rest of these terms still applies.

If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did — using the service in breach of these terms, copying or sharing our Content, or breaking the law — you agree to cover our reasonable losses, costs, and legal fees arising from that claim. This does not apply to anything that was our fault, and it does not apply to the extent Ontario consumer law says it cannot.

We are not responsible for a failure or delay caused by something beyond our reasonable control — an internet or hosting outage, a power failure, a cyber attack, a natural disaster, a strike, an epidemic, or a government order. If something like that goes on for a long time, either of us can end the agreement, and we will refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

We will send notices to the email address on your account. It is your responsibility to keep that address current and to check it. You can reach us at info@trumath.ca or at our business address above.

We want TruMath to work for every student. If any part of the service is difficult for you to use because of a disability, email us and we will do what we reasonably can to provide the material in a format that works for you. We welcome feedback on accessibility and we act on it.

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will email registered account holders and post a notice on the site before it takes effect, and we will update the date at the top.

If you do not agree with a change, you can close your account and we will refund the unused portion of anything you have prepaid. If you keep using the service after the change takes effect, that means you accept it. A change will not increase the price of a course you have already paid for in full.
